Agnès B. (born as Angès Andrée Marguerite Troublè) is a French fashion designer who got her start after being spotted in a Paris Flea Market by staffers at Elle Magazine. Her personal style stood out from the crowd and soon she was hired by Elle as a Junior Editor. After about two years, she left Elle and became a buyer and designer for Dorothée Bis, a French ready to wear brand. In 1975, she opened her first boutique, which was quite a whimsical shop, with an indoor swing and birds flying freely around inside the space. Looking to expand, she opened her first international shop in SoHo in New York City in 1983. Since then, she has opened stores in many countries around the world. Agnès B. designs for men, women, as well as children and has developed a line of perfume and skin care. She is also known for her charitable work, working with such institutions as ACT UP et Handicap International and AIDES. Additionally, she opened a gallery as well as a film production company.
