Founded in 1875 by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, Audemars Piguet is a Swiss manufacturer of handmade luxury watches. The business has been a family company since opening, and is currently on its fourth generation of watchmakers. Audemars Piguet holds the claim to fame for creating the first minute-repeating watch movement in 1892. Since then, their watches have been well known for their chime, chronograph and astronomical features. The introduction of the Royal Oak wristwatch in 1972, one of the styles still most popular today, helped the company rise to fame.
